BYD Atto3

Description
The BYD Atto 3 is built for exactly the kind of trip most Nepal itineraries call for: a paved highway run from Kathmandu to Pokhara or Chitwan, followed by a day or two of local driving once you get there. The Superior variant's 60.48 kWh Blade Battery gives it a 420 km WLTP range, more than enough to cover the roughly 200 km to Pokhara or 150 km to Chitwan on a single charge, with room to spare for sightseeing. Book it self-drive or with a driver through Destination Guru.
What makes the Atto 3 worth renting
Real highway range. 420 km WLTP on the Superior variant means you're not planning your trip around a charger.
Fast charging when you need it. DC fast charging takes the battery from 0 to 80 percent in about 50 minutes on a 70 kW charger, or roughly 45 minutes on an 80 kW Super Charger. A standard 7.2 kW AC charger fills it from 0 to 100 percent overnight, in about 7.5 hours.
Space for a family or a group. Five seats, 440 litres of boot space, extending to 1,330 litres with the rear seats folded.
Ground clearance built for Nepal's roads. At 175mm, the Atto 3 handles speed bumps, uneven pavement, and moderate potholes without scraping. It's a road car, not a 4WD, so it's suited to highway and city driving rather than mountain trails.
A quiet cabin. No engine noise, no diesel smell, and strong regenerative braking that recovers charge on Nepal's long descents, useful on the drive down from Pokhara or Nagarkot.
Safety features that matter on Nepali highways. Seven airbags, lane departure warning, and intelligent cruise control with ABS and traction control come standard.
Charging on the road
Nepal's EV charging network has grown fast. The Nepal Electricity Authority now runs more than 60 fast-charging hubs nationwide, with more being added along the Kathmandu-Pokhara and Kathmandu-Chitwan corridors specifically, and the country has over 1,200 public charging points in total as of 2026. Charging costs at NEA stations run roughly NPR 6 to 11 per kWh, so a full charge is still far cheaper than filling a tank of petrol for the same distance. We map out charging points along your route before you leave, so you're not searching for one mid-trip.
Self-drive or chauffeur-driven
The Atto 3 is available both ways. Self-drive suits anyone comfortable with an automatic and a valid Nepali license or International Driving Permit; the Atto 3 has no gears or clutch to learn, just an accelerator, a brake, and drive modes for Eco, Normal, and Sport. If you'd rather leave the driving and the charging logistics to someone else, we can arrange a driver familiar with the vehicle and the route.
Where you can take it
The Atto 3 is well suited to Nepal's main tourist corridors: Kathmandu to Pokhara, Kathmandu to Chitwan, day trips to Nagarkot or Dhulikhel, and city driving within the Kathmandu Valley. All of these routes now have charging infrastructure in place. For remote hill roads or high-altitude routes without reliable charging access, ask our team first; we'll tell you honestly whether the Atto 3 is the right fit or whether a different vehicle in our fleet makes more sense.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a special license to self-drive an electric car in Nepal?
No. Any valid Nepali driving license or International Driving Permit that covers light vehicles works for the Atto 3. It drives like a standard automatic, just without gears or engine noise.
Can I drive the Atto 3 from Kathmandu to Pokhara or Chitwan on a single charge?
Yes. Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 200 km and Kathmandu to Chitwan is around 150 km, both well inside the Superior variant's 420 km WLTP range. Nepal now has more than 60 NEA fast-charging hubs nationwide, with more being added along both routes, so a top-up is never far off if you want one.
What's included in the rental price?
This depends on your booking terms with Destination Guru. Confirm current inclusions such as insurance, mileage allowance, and roadside support with our team before booking.
Can I get a driver instead of self-driving?
Yes, chauffeur-driven rental is available for this vehicle. Ask our team about the daily rate difference.
What happens if the battery gets low on a remote road?
The Atto 3's regenerative braking recovers some charge on Nepal's long descents, and we flag the nearest charging point on your route before you leave. Charging infrastructure is still concentrated in the Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Chitwan, so check with our team before planning a trip beyond these corridors.
How is the Atto 3 on Nepal's rougher roads?
The 175mm ground clearance handles speed bumps and moderate potholes fine, though it's still a road car rather than an off-roader. It's built for highway routes like Kathmandu-Pokhara and Kathmandu-Chitwan, not high-altitude 4WD trails.
