Trip Info
Best Time to Do the Annapurna Circuit Trek
The Annapurna Circuit can be trekked year-round, but the most favorable seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (October–December). During these months, the weather is stable, temperatures are moderate, and mountain views are at their clearest. Tea houses along the route are fully operational, ensuring comfortable accommodation and reliable services.
Spring brings vibrant rhododendron blooms that color the trails, while autumn offers crisp air and deep blue skies, creating perfect visibility of the Himalayan peaks.
Summer (June–August), which coincides with the monsoon season, is less popular due to heavy rainfall in the lower regions and increased risk of landslides. However, sections of the trail lie in rain-shadow areas, making trekking still possible with proper planning and caution.
Winter (January–February) offers clear skies and fewer crowds, providing a more peaceful trekking experience. However, temperatures drop significantly below freezing, and heavy snowfall especially around Thorong La Pass can make trails challenging or even impassable. Proper preparation is essential for winter trekking.
Difficulty Level of the 14-Days Annapurna Circuit Trek via Tilicho Lake
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is considered moderate to strenuous. While beginners can complete it, prior trekking experience and good physical fitness are highly recommended.
One of the main challenges is high altitude. As you ascend, oxygen levels decrease, increasing the risk of altitude sickness if proper acclimatization is not followed. The highest point of the trek is Thorong La Pass (5,416m), which requires careful preparation.
Trekkers typically walk 6–7 hours per day over varied terrain, including steep ascents and descents. Preparing with regular exercise and endurance training at least a month in advance is strongly advised. Maintaining proper hydration and a balanced diet during the trek is equally important for energy and acclimatization.
Distance of the 14-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek
The total distance of the Annapurna Circuit varies depending on the itinerary. For a 12-day version, the trek covers approximately 160 kilometers.
On average, you will walk 10–15 kilometers per day, which usually takes around 6–7 hours. Some days may be shorter or longer depending on elevation gain and trail conditions.
Duration of the Annapurna Circuit Trek
Traditionally, the Annapurna Circuit took around 23–25 days to complete. However, with road access now reaching places like Chame and Muktinath, the trek can be shortened significantly.
This 12-day itinerary is ideal for trekkers with limited time who still want to experience the highlights of the circuit. However, some sections now follow roads with occasional vehicle traffic, especially if extending the trek toward Jomsom.
Cost of the Annapurna Circuit Trek (2026/2027)
The cost of the Annapurna Circuit Trek depends on group size, services, and level of comfort. Generally, traveling in a group reduces the overall cost compared to solo trekking.
At Destination Guru Tours & Treks, we offer competitive pricing with professional guides, quality accommodation, and personalized service to ensure a safe and memorable Himalayan journey.
