Overview
One of the most popular and amazing treks in the world, the Annapurna Circuit Trek leads you through some of the most breathtaking and varied scenery on earth. For those who enjoy the outdoors and the natural world, this journey in Nepal’s Annapurna region is a real treasure.
Typically taking 15 to 20 days to complete, the 160-230 km (100-145 mi) Annapurna Circuit Trek is a demanding but worthwhile adventure. The route begins with lowland settlements and terraced farms and gradually climbs past picturesque villages, gorgeous forests, and cascading waterfalls. As you ascend, the scenery dramatically shifts, revealing breathtaking snow-capped peaks, narrow canyons, and desolate high-altitude deserts.
Among the highlights of the Annapurna Circuit Trek is the 5,416-meter (17,769-foot) Thorong La Pass crossing. This exciting and strenuous walk stretch offers amazing views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain peaks. There’s no feeling quite like crossing the pass and realizing your accomplishments.
You will travel through traditional Nepalese villages, home to a diverse range of ethnic groups, including Thakalis, Tibetans, Magars, and Gurungs. You can take advantage of their friendly welcome, savor some of the regional cuisine, and discover their own traditions and customs.
A wide variety of plants and animals are protected in the Annapurna Conservation Area. You may witness the Himalayas’ pristine beauty by trekking across this area. It’s possible to spot birds, butterflies, musk deer, and snow leopards, among other threatened species.
Beautiful teahouses and hotels with basic amenities can be found along the route, allowing hikers to enjoy the adventure without having to bring heavy camping equipment. The nice environment that the other trekkers and kind individuals create makes the trip even more enjoyable.
