Overview
One of the best treks in Nepal is the Manaslu Circuit Trek. It leads to a stunning view of the eighth-highest mountain in the world and circles the Manaslu Conservation Area.
If you have already visited the Annapurna Circuit, this hike can be a fantastic substitute. The 14-day Manaslu Circuit Trek begins from Soti Khola and concludes at Beshi Sahar. It may be made into a 22-day trek by adding a side trip to the Tsum valley.
One of the most graceful of the 8000-meter giants, it is surrounded by the Annapurnas to the west and the Ganesh Himal to the east.
The Manaslu circuit trek typically sees fewer hikers along its path than the Everest Base Camp Trek, which is inundated with trekkers from all over the world. It is physically demanding and distant, yet it is also uplifting visually and culturally.
The circuit passes through the formidable gorges of the Budi Gandaki, with their azure rivers and breathtaking waterfalls, before emerging into the hot lowlands with their terraces of rice and millet. The Manaslu trek’s suspension bridges are unparalleled in length and height, and the annual monsoon frequently washes smaller bridges away, forcing hikers to rely on partially submerged boulders.
This walk, which was limited to 400 hikers in 1992, nevertheless has the air of a groundbreaking undertaking. The Manaslu circuit trek is a visual feast from beginning to end, but you’d better be in good physical shape if you want to experience trekking in the 1980s.
You wind slowly north to the Tibetan border’s Larkya La Pass, which is covered with snow. The breathtaking vistas of Manaslu almost make up for the altitude here, which is an issue. Larkya La Pass, at 5,167 meters/16,952 feet, is typically slippery and coated in snow. When descending, micro crampons are frequently utilized. To reach the highest point before the winds arrive, which is typically in the middle of the morning, trekking to the pass necessitates a 3 am start.
Looking back the way you came provides a clear view from the pass, but the most spectacular view is to the west along a corridor after you have left the pass.
A vast glacier cirque suddenly appears. Annapurna II rises in front of a magnificent wall carved by Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal, Nemjung, Gyaji Kang, and Kang Guru, which sends a stream of glaciers falling. The hike is worthwhile just for this vista. Magical Nepal is able to plan your 13-day trek with everything included. If you don’t want to venture off route, where camping is your only choice, you can complete the walk on a teahouse.
